Below is a start to finish look at a football done for local athlete Carter Imes.

 Using ref photos a basic rough sketch is layed out on the ball.

With the layout decided on paint is worked in detail and highlights all come at the end. I was unsure exactly how to tackle the background of this ball. The client had many good ideas. However the one we settled on in the final was to take a picture of the teams recently renovated stadium and make that the backdrop for the ball. Also changed from concept to completion was the right hand picture from a running pose to a scrambling pose.

The final ball as you can see some aspects are quite different from the inital sketchwork.
